PAM Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide healthcare for chronically and critically ill patients in a critical care setting. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing patient care plans independently and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- Function as an advanced practitioner providing healthcare for a caseload of patients in clinical specialization
- Examine and treat patients independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
- Ensure proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery
- Assist collaborating physician with patient admissions and discharges
- Review patient records, obtain relevant health and medical histories, perform physical examinations
- Document pertinent findings in the medical record
- Conduct patient rounds to monitor progress and assess overall health status
- Perform or order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures
- Formulate differential diagnoses
- Manage cases by identifying individual patient needs and implementing physician-directed treatment plans
- Prescribe medications and treatments as authorized under the Medical Practice Act
- Provide patient and family counseling and education
- Initiate appropriate consults and referrals for specialized services and multidisciplinary support
- Continuously reassess and adjust the plan of care as needed
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner program or PA program accreditation
- State licensure as NP or PA
- Current ACLS and BLS/Healthcare Provider certifications
- National certification (NP) or NCCPA certification (PA)
- Minimum 3 years of acute critical care experience (NP) or 12 months clinical PA experience
Qualifications
- Master’s degree with Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification from an accredited program OR successful completion of an educational program for physician assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
- Minimum 3 years of acute experience, critical access care required for NP; Prefer at least 12 months of clinical PA experience
