The Non-Emergency Transport Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of clients enrolled in Roots' housing and treatment programs, supporting their engagement in treatment and program activities. This role involves maintaining vehicle safety and accurate documentation while upholding the organization's trauma-informed approach and values.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport clients between Roots housing programs and various treatment services
- Transport clients to recovery-related activities, including meetings, appointments, and pro-social events
- Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of clients according to established schedules
- Operate agency or approved personal vehicles in a safe and lawful manner
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe vehicle environment
- Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and report maintenance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, trip documentation, mileage records, and incident reports
- Communicate effectively with housing staff, clinical teams, and supervisors regarding schedules and client concerns
- Support a trauma-informed, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment while interacting with clients
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or client crises during transportation
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current, valid unrestricted California Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger (P) endorsement
- Minimum of nine (9) years of continuous driving experience licensed in the State of California
- Clean driving record with no traffic or moving violations within the past seven (7) years
- Valid automobile insurance meeting agency requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of nine (9) years of continuous driving experience licensed in the State of California, with a clean driving record for the past seven (7) years. Experience driving large, 12-passenger vans a plus.
Nice to Have
- Successful completion of course of study in relevant field
- Experience driving large, 12-passenger vans
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, homelessness, or other vulnerable populations
- Experience in behavioral health, social services, housing programs, or recovery-oriented environments
