Night Fleet Manager

About This Role

Manage driver and customer issues after hours, ensuring timely pick-ups and deliveries while maximizing revenue and driver productivity. This role focuses on driver retention and maintaining an excellent safety record within the flatbed carrier industry.

Responsibilities

• Review driver check calls to determine driver location and estimated delivery times
• Receive and review load assignments from Customer Service to ensure appropriate driver work assignments
• Dispatch loads to drivers including load information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel information
• Call customers to obtain direction information and schedule loading/delivery appointments
• Notify Customer Service of issues/changes impacting customer expectations or load assignments
• Promote safety across operations, dispatching loads according to driver hours of availability
• Focus on driver retention by understanding preferences, monitoring performance, and keeping drivers motivated
• Resolve driver conflicts, problems, and requests regarding home time, pay, equipment, and load assignments
• Ensure awareness and enforce company policies
• Track priority customers to ensure on-time delivery
• Maintain records pertaining to driver performance and productivity
• Participate in Quality teams and attend company meetings

Requirements

• Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, OR relevant experience in transportation or related field
• Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency
• Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress
• Ability to plan and organize
• Attention to detail
• Problem-solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Courteous, yet assertive telephone personality

Qualifications

• Four-year degree, preferably in Transportation and Logistics, and/or relevant experience in transportation or related field
• Relevant experience in transportation or related field
