About This Role

This role is for a new graduate nurse to gain hands-on experience and develop clinical and critical thinking skills within a Pediatric ICU, transitioning from student to registered nurse through a structured residency program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with departmental requirements and scope of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
  • Collaborate with medical providers and care team members to provide individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients, families and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience.
  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical provider(s) and document administration of care.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient for therapeutic response, and intervene as appropriate in case of unintended response.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs to resolve them proactively.
  • Teach patients, families and caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State
  • No previous experience needed
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
