The Neurodiagnostic Tech II independently conducts neurodiagnostic studies across various hospital environments, from neonate to adult patients, ensuring accurate data collection and equipment maintenance. This role involves precise electrode application, artifact troubleshooting, and collaborative work with physicians.
Responsibilities
- Work independently in diverse hospital environments (ICU, regular floor) with neonate through adult patient populations.
- Obtain relevant patient history to guide testing and explain procedures to patients, demonstrating respect.
- Follow all patient safety guidelines and ensure a safe environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their effects on EEG studies.
- Display competency in using the 10-20 international electrode placement system with head measurement.
- Precisely apply electrodes, recognize, and eliminate artifacts by troubleshooting and correcting.
- Select appropriate sensitivity settings and montages, obtaining quality data regardless of patient’s age or disability.
- Monitor patients during testing and collaborate with physicians for interpretation and clinical correlation of results.
- Review data during recording to ensure validity and interpretability.
- Perform initial setup and timely maintenance of ongoing long-term testing, monitoring skin integrity and reporting issues to nursing.
- Communicate effectively during emergencies and care for patients during seizures.
- Collect accurate and timely data, submitting all required information for data logs with attention to detail.
- Ensure proper care and handling of all equipment, maintaining headboxes and peripheral equipment.
- Communicate timely and respectfully with nursing staff, physicians, and colleagues, promoting self-growth and development.
Requirements
- HS Diploma/GED or Neurodiagnostic Program certificate
- 2+ years of Neurodiagnostic/EEG technology experience
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- BLS CPR within 30 days of hire
Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED Required, or Graduate/Certificate from a Neurodiagnostic Program
- 2+ years of Neurodiagnostic/EEG technology experience
Nice to Have
- Experience with MEG procedures
- Previous experience working in a hospital setting
- Experience with EPIC and NATUS
