Network Architect

About This Role

Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise-grade network solutions, focusing on scalability, reliability, and security. Lead technical strategy, mentor less experienced engineers, and collaborate across teams to resolve problems.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and document technical work products (e.g., code, scripts, processes) according to organizational standards and practices
• Deliver high quality work and coach team members on technical craftsmanship
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify systemic problems and define and lead execution of action items to address them
• Design thoughtfully integrated systems that model organizational best practices, allowing disparate teams across product domains to deliver value
• Oversee the management of technical debt in existing systems and drive opportunities to eliminate it
• Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges and guide teams in implementation of mitigating strategies
• Partner with the security organization to incorporate security conscious practices early in the lifecycle of new systems
• Evaluate technical risks and guide toward practical prevention strategies
• Work across teams to break down silos and resolve problems collaboratively
• Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering and product leaders as well as key vendors
• Clearly translate technical strategy into implementable componentry within the context of the relevant business area
• Maintain a focus on removing the duplication of effort across teams and proactively identify opportunities for reuse
• Mentor individuals on teams across their span of influence
• Ensure teams are directionally aligned on the engineering strategy of their product domain and lead cross-team efforts that advance organizational strategy

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments
• Deep technical expertise in network infrastructure, including VoIP/IP telephony, global routing and switching architectures, and cloud integration
• Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain complex, enterprise-grade communication and networking solutions across large, geographically distributed environments
• Expert-level knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and anycast
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing advanced routing techniques for large-scale, highly available networks
• Technical knowledge of SDWAN, MPLS, VXLAN, Cloud networking, and systems interconnectivity
• Demonstrated expertise in SIP architecture integration with both customized and COTS solutions
• Deep experience in VoIP networking and strong technical proficiency in designing and supporting LAN/WAN architectures
• Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical leaders
• Skilled in producing comprehensive architecture documentation and detailed design drawings, as well as developing runbooks

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
• 9+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments
