This role involves reviewing and abstracting cardiovascular data from medical records for the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) to ensure compliance with quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes. This position focuses on detail to meet client timelines and requires strong communication skills for client interactions.
Responsibilities
- Review and abstract cardiovascular data from medical records for the NCDR
- Ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes
- Function well under timeline commitments from clients
- Manage client communications and ensure client gratification with services
- Stay current with abstraction/coding rules, manuals, and guidelines
- Maintain credentials and self-update skillset
Requirements
- Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Ability to work a minimum of 15-20 hours or more per week (PRN)
- Reliable, high-speed internet connection
- Commitment and reliability
- Superb communication and responsiveness
- Computer literacy (Excel, web-browsers, email, electronic health records)
- Familiarity with technologies like security (e.g., Citrix), data collection/abstraction, encoders, web-based applications
- Prior experience in position applying for
- Motivation and ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and tactfulness
Qualifications
- Graduate of approved accredited nursing program (RN/BSN) or CAHIIM accredited program, or other accredited healthcare program
Nice to Have
- Electronic Health Record experience
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software, applications and programming
- Healthcare credential associated with program of study
- Other healthcare information related abstraction and coding credentials
