About This Role

This role involves acting as a field-based scientific expert to strategically support the scientific and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area, specifically GI Care. The MSL serves as a primary communicator of AbbVie science to healthcare professionals, develops relationships with thought leaders, and supports research initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Master scientific content, materials, disease state, and therapeutic area to establish scientific expertise
  • Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers
  • Present scientific information and education regarding disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products to healthcare professionals
  • Support research initiatives requested by AbbVie R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs Departments
  • Serve as internal medical and scientific resource for development of medically accurate and balanced communications
  • Create, maintain, and collaborate in relationships with internal cross-functional partnerships
  • Support and provide on-going training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel
  • Practice core capabilities in strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and Procedure, including documentation and budget management

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, APP) in a relevant scientific discipline
  • Problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply foundational skills in Scientific Storytelling, Identifying Mobilizers and Active Listening
  • Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively
  • Ability to engage the audience and help them understand and retain information

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree required (i.e., Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, APP) in a relevant scientific discipline. Doctorate strongly preferred.
  • 0-2 years' relevant experience
