About This Role

This role involves monitoring cardiac rhythms and assisting the nursing department with indirect patient care duties. The Monitor Technician ensures communication needs are met and performs administrative tasks to support patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors
  • Meet the communication needs of the department
  • Transcribe physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system
  • Verify that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done
  • Prepare and complete records in the ER
  • Order supplies for the unit
  • Prepare and complete each patient's chart for necessary forms on a daily basis
  • Assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as it does not distract from dysrhythmia monitoring

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician
