Ministry Intern

About This Role

This Ministry Intern position is a leadership development role designed to prepare individuals for full-time ministry within The Salvation Army through officership. The intern will work closely with Corps Officers, gaining hands-on experience and leadership in daily corps responsibilities and programming.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Christian education programs (Sunday School, Bible Studies, Corps Cadets, Small Groups), including planning, leading meetings, preaching, teaching, and supporting others
• Participate in and coordinate the development of corps programming, worship arts, music programs, and special programming (VBS, day camps, outreaches, character building, leadership training)
• Represent The Salvation Army at community events, including service clubs, committee participation, school functions, and ministerial associations
• Participate in and develop community center, social service, and core corps programs
• Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries, Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and youth and adult planning committees
• Participate in property upkeep, vehicle maintenance, and facility preparation for programming
• Participate in corps financial goals by learning the budget process, financial practices, and supporting fund-raising efforts
• Participate in social services programs including Emergency Assistance, Pathway of Hope, food pantry, and seasonal assistance, along with required documentation

Requirements

• Must be a Christian with the intent of entering ministry
• Must be of good character and maturity
• Must have a valid driver’s license/MVR clearance

Qualifications

• Three to four years in full-time non-Salvation Army ministry preferred

Nice to Have

• Three to four years of college or three to four years in full-time non-Salvation Army ministry preferred
• Flexibility in work hours and job responsibilities
