Mill Receiving Operator

About This Role

This role is responsible for accurately receiving and documenting ingredients for pet food production, maintaining inventory, and ensuring ingredient quality. The work involves operating heavy machinery in various environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document pounds of ingredients required for production
• Maintain running inventories and communicate shortages
• Verify incoming ingredients are within specification
• Operate heavy machinery including forklifts and trailer spotting equipment
• Follow proper testing protocols for incoming ingredients (sieve, Perten, moisture testing)
• Operate yard-dog and railcar mover, spotting trailers and railcars
• Probe and sample incoming ingredients according to protocol
• Scale trucks in and out as per policy
• Fill propane cylinders as necessary
• Perform batching operations when required
• Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP's, and HACCP
• Keep work area clean and maintain assigned portion of master sanitation schedule
• Report all safety violations and hazards immediately and participate in safety programs

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check
