Middle School ELA Teacher

About This Role

The Middle School ELA Teacher is responsible for instructing students in English Language Arts to foster their development as responsible citizens, planning and delivering instruction to meet individual student needs, and creating a positive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes and plan a program of study that meets individual student needs.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, respectful, and appropriate to student maturity.
• Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly, provide progress reports, and use data to inform instruction through formative assessments.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and rules, develop reasonable classroom behavior rules, and maintain order fairly.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher associate(s) and volunteer(s).
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence, attend staff meetings, and serve on staff committees as required.
• Uses technology in classroom instruction and enables students to use technology on a regular basis in their learning.
• Contribute to efforts to achieve district and building goals and collaborate with students, families, colleagues, and communities to enhance student learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Appropriate teaching certificate
• Ability to work with students, teachers, and parents
