Middle-School Based Counselor

About This Role

This role will support the mental health and well-being of middle school students by providing essential therapeutic services within a dedicated school environment. The counselor will foster emotional growth and academic success by addressing students' behavioral and family issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide intervention for students and families to address behavior and family issues impacting school performance and social/emotional development.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student assessments and needs.
• Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to support student well-being and academic success.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of therapy sessions and student progress.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student cases and develop comprehensive support strategies.
• Educate and train school staff on mental health awareness and best practices for supporting students.
• Advocate for students’ mental health needs and connect them with external resources and services.
• Provide assessment, planning, counseling/therapy, referrals, advocacy, and collateral contacts.
• Establish comprehensive plans for services to ensure student and family needs are met.
• Conduct school-based group counseling/therapy using an evidenced-based model.
