Drive innovation and optimize rolling processes as an Entry-Level Metallurgist, contributing to the development of next-generation aluminum flat rolled products in a state-of-the-art facility.
Responsibilities
- Review and approve hot rolling and cold rolling mill capabilities to meet aluminum metallurgical and product specifications for automotive sheet, can stock, and industrial customers
- Collaborate with Process Metallurgists and Operations teams to establish rolling line parameters that achieve quality, safety, throughput, and cost objectives
- Provide technical leadership during coil-to-coil rolling operations and product trials, working closely with engineers, supervisors, and production teams
- Analyze rolled aluminum products for surface quality and metallurgical criteria, supporting root cause investigations for internal issues and customer claims
- Develop and implement best rolling practices to improve efficiency, monitor scrap and yield performance, reduce rework, and ensure on-time delivery
- Serve as a subject matter expert in aluminum rolling metallurgy, supporting product development, qualification efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Use process data, metallurgical principles, and structured problem-solving methods to identify production challenges and implement sustainable solutions
- Develop corrective action plans, execute them, and monitor results to confirm long-term effectiveness
- Support customer visits, mill tours, and technical exchanges, providing expertise in aluminum hot rolling and cold rolling processes
- Mentor and train early-career engineers and technical team members on rolling practices, metallurgy fundamentals, and operational excellence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 0-3 years of experience in metals manufacturing, rolling, casting, or related industrial environments (internship or co-op experience welcomed)
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO, IATF, or other applicable regulations
- Exposure to aluminum rolling processes, flat rolled products, or continuous improvement in manufacturing settings
