This role involves understanding and applying knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) design concepts, estimating, and construction basics to support preconstruction and operations teams. The MEP Manager acts as an in-house expert for associates and clients in a dedicated market or region.
Responsibilities
- Create content for project pursuits and attend project interviews to address MEP challenges
- Review construction drawings to identify optimal solutions, scope gaps, overages, and value engineering opportunities
- Assist with MEP estimating at various design stages and review trade partner estimates
- Coordinate with trade partners, recommend suitable partners, and assist with selection
- Review MEP scope of work documents and assist with bid evaluations
- Direct teams and clients on available rebates and incentives
- Attend MEP trade and consultant coordination meetings regularly
- Review specific MEP submittals and provide feedback to operations teams
- Attend site reviews regularly for assigned projects
- Assist project teams with troubleshooting construction issues and developing plans for high-risk trade partners
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as design engineer/consultant or trade partner preconstruction, management, or operations
- Knowledge of MEP and construction terminology and construction procedures
- Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- High-level of time management and prioritization
- Ability to build and retain relationships with trade partners and consultants
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural, Structural, Civil or Construction Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Construction Science or Management or equivalent
- 5+ years experience as design engineer/consultant or trade partner preconstruction, management, or operations
