This role involves managing and overseeing mental health programs at the Forsyth County Detention Center, ensuring high-quality care for individuals in residence. It's a unique opportunity to make a difference for a diverse patient population with complex mental health and medical needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement mental health programs and services
- Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care
- Perform and document patient mental health evaluations, maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
- Facilitate patient treatments including admission and discharge from the mental health unit and housing change requests
- Demonstrate knowledge of DSM-V criteria
- Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and correctional staff to ensure effective and coordinated care
- Manage mental health staff, including training, development, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding
- Develop and manage program budgets and utilize resources efficiently
- Respond to and manage mental health crises, providing immediate support and stabilization
- Monitor compliance with site-specific and company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with ACA, NCCHC standards
Requirements
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field
- Active, unrestricted state license (LMSW-C, LPC, LMSW)
- Active BLS CPR Certification
- 3+ years clinical experience in mental health or acute care setting
- 2+ years experience in management
- Knowledge and experience in identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders
- Knowledge of discharge planning, principles of social work, individual and group behavior, and psychotropic medications
- Effective communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
Qualifications
- Master's prepared degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field
- A minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in a mental health care or acute care setting, with a minimum of 2 years in management.
