Medical Technologist / Medical Technician

About This Role

This role involves performing a wide variety of laboratory procedures, from manual to automated methods, across various disciplines such as Hematology, Blood Bank, and Chemistry. You will ensure the accuracy of patient results and contribute to the quality and compassion of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA, Bus. & Prof. Code Section 1204
• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results
• Follow established quality control policies and procedures, documenting all corrective actions
• Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or notify relevant supervisors
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using both manual and automated methods in various disciplines
• Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance on instruments and equipment
• Review the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting
• Recognize age-specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested and reported correctly, without collaboration with other laboratories
• May be required to perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups
• Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures

Requirements

• ASCP certification, or equivalent
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience
• Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
• Minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience
