This role involves coding Inpatient/Outpatient charges and specialty services using appropriate classification systems for reimbursement, research, and compliance. The analyst reviews medical documentation to ensure compliance and provides feedback to practitioners, while meeting productivity and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for various medical procedures and visits
- Analyze and resolve coding edits
- Identify and review documentation in an EMR environment for required signatures and addendums
- Interact with and provide feedback to providers regarding medical documentation deficiencies or clarification requests
- Ensure strict confidentiality of medical records and documentation
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
Requirements
- Permanent address and live in New Mexico or willing to relocate to New Mexico
- High School diploma or GED
- Certification in RHIT, RHIA, RCC, CIRCC, CSS, CCA, CCS-P, COC, CIC, CPC, CPC-P, CPC-A, or CCS
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- For Analyst I: 6 months directly related experience or successful completion of UNMMG Medical Coding Internship Program. For Analyst II: 2 years directly related experience.
