About This Role

Lead the technical development, scale-up, and lifecycle support of new products and processes in the meat industry. This role partners with corporate sales, customers, and leadership to ensure product success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product prototypes through bench-top formulation and iterative testing
  • Design new products and improve existing formulations to meet culinary, financial, nutritional, and customer expectations in full-scale production
  • Research ingredients and test technologies to support product development and continuous improvement
  • Support pilot and commercial-scale trials with technical preparation, on-site execution, and post-trial evaluation
  • Adapt formulations and processes to meet technical and operational capabilities of manufacturing facilities
  • Collaborate with Operations to optimize processes and production performance within approved product specifications
  • Apply food safety, quality, and shelf-life principles during development and scale-up
  • Support yield improvement and cost-reduction initiatives by analyzing process performance, material usage, and formulation efficiency
  • Provide technical input, formulation expertise, and process knowledge for product commercialization activities
  • Serve as the technical owner for assigned products post-commercialization, supporting continuous improvement and issue resolution

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science, Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or related field
  • 3-5 years of food product development experience (Bachelor's degree) OR 2+ years (Advanced degree)
  • Knowledge of food processing technologies
  • Knowledge of microbiology and product shelf life control
  • Knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work independently, plan, organize, prioritize, and execute simultaneous projects
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Meat Science, Food Science, Food Process Engineering, or another related field
  • 3-5 years of food product development experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with an advanced degree

Nice to Have

  • Meat manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a USDA regulated facility
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification
