Material Handler / Yard Clerk

About This Role

Assist customers with material loading, maintain yard organization, and safely handle building materials while supporting daily operations in a family-owned lumberyard.

Responsibilities

• Load materials into customers' vehicles or onto company delivery vehicles
• Accurately build loads and prepare materials for deliveries in a timely manner
• Carefully unload incoming freight
• Safely operate forklift in accordance with OSHA and KBC standards
• Maintain clean and organized environment in lumberyard and storage buildings
• Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations
• Perform other assigned tasks as requested by leadership team when needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, vendors and team members
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other yard equipment
• Ability to lift a minimum of 100 Lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field; 3 years in customer service (preferred); 2 years in building materials (preferred)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and construction industry
• Class C driver's license
• 3 years of customer service experience
• 2 years of building materials experience
• Proficient with handling cash transactions
