This co-op role supports manufacturing engineering initiatives, focusing on optimizing work cell layouts, tooling, and continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma principles. The individual will conduct task reviews, analyze tack times, validate data in SAP, and collaborate with the manufacturing team.
Responsibilities
- Analyze tasks performed by the manufacturing team to ensure alignment with project goals
- Develop work cell layout and tooling/equipment requirements, using Lean Six Sigma and 5S+1 principles
- Support continuous improvement projects using lean optimization tools and principles
- Evaluate tack times (the duration of each task) to identify efficiencies and discrepancies compared to SAP routings
- Ensure that all task times and details are accurately recorded in SAP
- Support procurement activities, inventory management, and capacity planning through ERP BOM reviews
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to gather insights and feedback
Requirements
- 2nd - 4th year Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering student
- Attention to detail
- Good record keeper
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent written & verbal skills
- Demonstrated project leadership skills
- Intermediate Excel skills (modeling, pivot tables, v-lookup, macros)
- Currently enrolled student
- Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in mid-May/June through August/September
- Familiar with university’s requirements to participate in a co-op program
Qualifications
- 2nd - 4th year Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering students
- Current student pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
