Lead cross-team engineering to deliver machine learning-driven product experiences, enhancing Homefeed relevance and engagement for Pinterest's 400 million monthly users. Drive the development of large-scale, low-latency systems and advanced machine learning models.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable, low-latency machine learning models to improve Homefeed relevance and user experience
- Drive the implementation of large-scale data processing pipelines to support ML inference and data analysis
- Enhance the efficiency, reliability, and stability of backend services, focusing on reducing infrastructure costs and improving system performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver innovative solutions
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies in machine learning, deep learning, and big data to incorporate best practices into projects
- Ensure the robustness, security, and scalability of all systems developed under your leadership
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in recommender systems, user modeling, or implementing large-scale production machine learning systems
- 7+ years of experience with large-scale distributed backend services
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Java
- Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
- Expertise in big data processing tools including Spark, Hive, and MapReduce
- Strong background in deep learning and generative AI models
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with product managers and designers to ship ML-driven user-facing products
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead complex technical projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience in recommender systems, user modeling, or implementing large-scale production machine learning systems; 7+ years of experience with large-scale distributed backend services
