About This Role

Join UNT Health's dynamic team as an LVN, providing compassionate medical care to patients, particularly older adults, at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. This role involves assessing patients, administering medications, and coordinating care to improve health outcomes within the community.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and record patient vital signs, perform procedures and administer medications, injections and vaccines as ordered by clinician in the electronic health record
  • Assemble, maintain, and properly use equipment in patient care delivery
  • Return patient calls and perform telephone triage following standardized protocols and clinicians guidance
  • Gauge patient's overall health status, updating clinicians as indicated
  • Provide oversight and guidance to medical assistants in collaboration with clinic supervisor/manager
  • Obtain insurance authorizations for referrals, procedures, and medications
  • Follow clinical protocols for medication refills and complete patient forms as necessary
  • Follow all departmental and organizational policies and procedures with regard to patient safety, quality management, infection control, and human resources
  • Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patient's individual beliefs
  • Participate in process and quality improvement initiatives that aim to ensure patient safety and efficient clinical workflows
  • Coordinate care with internal and external partners

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Valid Texas LVN license
  • Current CPR (BLS) certificate

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • 2 years of related experience

Nice to Have

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
  • Previous experience with a student population including telephone communication, ambulatory care, familiarity with adult vaccine schedule, patient rights, and safety
  • Experience with Medicare and Managed Medicare insurance plans

Certifications

CPR (BLS) (Required)
