As a Lower School Lead Teacher, you will design and deliver classroom programs and curriculum aligned with the school's mission, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for students in grades K-5. You will also build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver the classroom program and curriculum aligned with the School’s mission
- Create and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students
- Foster professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues
- Lead one class of students in a specific grade level (K-5)
- Teach foundational skills in English language arts, math, social studies, and social-emotional learning
- Prepare lessons, units, and projects that are developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive
- Provide timely formative and summative assessments and feedback on student progress
- Develop strategies to work effectively with students of varying abilities and needs
- Establish and uphold classroom norms, expectations, systems, and routines
- Maintain regular and open communication with parents/guardians
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in an elementary / middle school setting
- Strong understanding of best practices of education (child development, culturally responsive pedagogy, diverse learning profiles, classroom management, responsive classroom, restorative practices)
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Active listening skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, verbally and written
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong technology skills
- Experience with Google Suite
- Experience with educational technology platforms
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in an elementary / middle school setting
