Locate Technician

About This Role

As an Entry Level Locate Technician, you will be responsible for locating underground utilities, troubleshooting, and marking the ground to prevent damage in your community.

Responsibilities

• Receive, document, and process tickets and email using a laptop computer
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best method and sequence for locating
• Use provided locate equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation

Requirements

• Eighteen years of age or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day 2-3 times a week
• Ability to carry up to 5 lbs of electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 lbs or in excess of 75 lbs with tool aids
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Entry level position, on-the-job paid training provided.
