This role involves providing diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, therapy, counseling, and support services to a diverse caseload of adult, adolescent, and family clients with SUD, mental health, and dual-diagnosed conditions in a residential setting. The therapist will develop and maintain therapeutic relationships, respond to mental health emergencies, and coordinate community resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling and psychotherapy to assigned caseload, including clients with severe and persistent mental illness and substance use disorders
- Complete documented evidence-based Treatment Plans after the first client encounter and review progress in each note
- Develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship with client, family, and caregivers, providing support as appropriate
- Respond to mental health emergencies in a culturally responsive manner, assessing resources and engaging community partners
- Provide Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment (CPST), SUD Targeted Case Management, and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) as needed
- Serve as a liaison to coordinate, make referrals, or arrange for appropriate community resources, and act as a client advocate
- Actively participate in all treatment conferences and meetings, maintaining frequent contact with OhioGuidestone professionals
- Accurately and promptly document and maintain client and family interactions, including legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines
- Attend and participate in regular supervision
- Maintain all required licenses
Requirements
- LCDC III, LSW, LPC, or MFT license
- Master’s Degree from relevant accredited program OR Bachelor’s degree from relevant accredited program with 2 years’ experience in social work or counseling OR Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science or nursing
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance, and diagnosis/treatment of behavioral disorders
- Knowledge of group behavior dynamics and cultural influences
- Effective interpersonal skills; ability to form relationships with diverse populations
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize
- Proficient computer skills, including Electronic Health Records, Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance
- Authorization to work legally in the United States
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from relevant accredited program; or Bachelor’s degree from relevant accredited program with 2 years’ experience in social work or counseling; or Bachelor’s Degree in a behavioral science or nursing.
- Entry-level with an interest or experience in addiction and SUD; 2 years' experience in social work or counseling if only Bachelor's degree is held
