The Library Assistant provides essential customer service to library patrons and performs various duties crucial for the effective delivery and operation of library services across multiple branch locations.
Responsibilities
- Manage circulation desk duties, including library card registration, material check-in/out, and fine/fee processing.
- Handle and distribute library materials, including Interlibrary Loan and Express Library items.
- Assist patrons with online catalog, electronic equipment, and self-checkout machines.
- Process fines and fees, managing money and credit card transactions, and reconciling cash reports.
- Perform opening and closing procedures for the library.
- Process new materials for circulation and mend existing ones, including labeling and barcoding.
- Shelve materials and maintain the organization and appearance of the library.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year related work experience in customer service
- Valid driver's license or evidence of mobility
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year related work experience in a customer service field, preferably library experience or face-to-face customer service.
