Lead the design teams for electric transmission projects, ranging from small to large complexity. Apply leadership and transmission line knowledge to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing
- Manage the engineering aspects of multiple projects ranging from 34.5kV to 500kV
- Develop project schedules and define technical staff for projects and daily work
- Assist in the development of technical staff through mentoring, instructing technical engineering principles and governing electrical and safety codes
- Instruct and teach the technical staff in the use of computer systems and software, tools and equipment
- Manage and provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to submissions
- Collaborate with the department management to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures
- Collaborate with other departments and divisions on company-wide initiatives
- Maintain relationships with existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential clients
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical, Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Active PE licensure
- 5+ years of experience in Power Transmission Design
- Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects
- Ability to effectively supervise a project team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability
- Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Transmission facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities
- Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and other industry software
- Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical, Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 5+ years of experience in Power Transmission Design
Nice to Have
- Experience leading an engineering team, demonstrating proficiency in resource management and delegation of engineering tasks
- Experience providing technical direction for a department/organization in field of expertise
