Lead Library Specialist

About This Role

Serve as a lead worker within a library division, responsible for directing, training, and guiding staff and volunteers. This role assists with scheduling, planning, and performance evaluations, contributing to the development of division services.

Responsibilities

• Direct and lead the work of division staff and volunteers
• Schedule staff and volunteers for public service points
• Communicate with supervisor about staff performance and provide input concerning evaluations
• Perform full range of circulation functions, answer and refer patron inquiries
• Resolve customer complaints and concerns by explaining library policies, programs, and services
• Operate and drive a motor vehicle safely and legally
• Organize, coordinate, design, and deliver programming and outreach to community members
• Perform collection maintenance tasks and assist librarians in collection development
• Serve as Person In Charge of facility as needed, handling issues such as security and emergencies

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of customer service-related experience
• 1 year of library experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Oregon Driver's License

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of customer service-related experience including at least 1 year of library experience

Nice to Have

• 2 years of college course work
• Spanish language skills
