This Design Associate role focuses on assisting with design development and producing plan documents for various projects, understanding and applying JPD's design philosophy to enhance quality of life and well-being through landscape architecture.
Responsibilities
- Improve performance, qualifications, and knowledge of job duties every day
- Assist in the design development of JPD projects
- Produce all phases of JPD's plan documents to ensure professional plans are provided on schedule, effectively communicating design intent to clients and contractors
- Produce plan documents using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other required software
- Coordinate with other design professionals such as architects and engineers in the development of plan documents
- Research and specify landscape products, vendors, and contractors as required by specific project needs
- Attend industry-related association meetings and gatherings beneficial for professional development and networking
- Provide synergy and a cohesive approach to execution and communication to team members to support overall business objectives
- Understand and obey the ASLA Code of Professional Ethics in the performance of all duties
Requirements

- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, organization, and time-management skills
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, etc., or an equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience
- Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite programs, SketchUp, etc.
- Practical knowledge of southern landscape plants, irrigation systems, and landscape materials and products
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with various levels of company staff and external contacts, both in writing and verbally
- Ability to work simultaneously on many priorities
- Demonstrated ability to organize in a professional manner to achieve specified goals
- Demonstrated creative and persuasive problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, etc., or an equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience
- 0-3 years experience
