About This Role

This role supports RiverView Health patient care areas by performing phlebotomy, collecting, preparing, and processing biological specimens. The position ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing biological specimens
  • Assist in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks
  • Aid in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies
  • Enter laboratory orders and results
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment
  • Perform supportive laboratory functions
  • Serve patients by registering them for laboratory testing, preparing specimens for testing, and performing screening procedures
  • Collect blood samples from patients, label them correctly, and send them for analysis and testing
  • Make judgments regarding possible clerical discrepancies and bring them to the attention of a laboratory tech or Director
  • Provide patient care appropriate to age, diagnosis, symptoms, and provider orders following established policies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current American Heart CPR – Healthcare Provider certification

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Completion of a formal phlebotomy program
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Experience in a laboratory-related field
  • Three years of experience as a phlebotomist
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • One year of lab specimen processing experience
