About This Role

Assist the Shoals Marine Lab with research projects by reviewing field and lab protocols, identifying fish otoliths, and maintaining a database of work.

Responsibilities

Review and validate field and laboratory protocols for analysis of fish otoliths
Taxonomic identification of fish otoliths using microscopy
Take morphological measurements of otoliths
Take photographs of otoliths
Maintain and manage a database of work

Requirements

Undergraduate student in good academic standing
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational skills

Qualifications

Undergraduate student in good academic standing

Nice to Have

Able to identify fish otoliths to species
Familiarity with Gulf of Maine fish community
Experience with microscopy
