Assist the Shoals Marine Lab with research projects by reviewing field and lab protocols, identifying fish otoliths, and maintaining a database of work.
Responsibilities
- Review and validate field and laboratory protocols for analysis of fish otoliths
- Taxonomic identification of fish otoliths using microscopy
- Take morphological measurements of otoliths
- Take photographs of otoliths
- Maintain and manage a database of work
Requirements
- Undergraduate student in good academic standing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student in good academic standing
Nice to Have
- Able to identify fish otoliths to species
- Familiarity with Gulf of Maine fish community
- Experience with microscopy
