Labor and Delivery Nurse

About This Role

Deliver safe patient care as a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Provide direct patient care, guide patient/family teaching, and ensure appropriate care for newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel
• Maintain standards of care in the Birthplace
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment
• Provide for a safe environment for patients and visitors
• Utilize the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well-being and appropriateness of care to newborns and mothers during the antepartum and postpartum periods

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN License
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• NRP or PALS certification
• Fetal monitoring experience
