Joint Concept Subject Matter Expert (SME)

About This Role

This role involves providing expert subject matter expertise in future concept development for the Joint Staff J7's Futures and Concepts Program. The SME will contribute to innovative thought, technology, and operational applications for future capabilities, aligning with National Defense and Military Strategies.

Responsibilities

• Contribute directly to innovative thought, technology, and operational application of future capabilities
• Lead intellectual content development for JS J7 Joint Force Development and Design efforts
• Develop and present senior executive-level briefs, white papers, research themes, future concepts, and analytic reports
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, and write analytic reports

Requirements

• Military or civilian government service at the O-5/GS-14 level or above
• Active Top Secret clearance, eligible for TS/SCI
• Expert-level experience developing, writing, and presenting executive-level briefings, papers, articles, and/or reports
• Experience at the Joint Staff, Combatant Command, or senior Service staff level
• Expert-level experience in military operations and planning at the strategic and operational level
• Conversant with future technologies and all-domain capabilities (land, maritime, air, cyber, space, and EMS)
• Experience or expertise in the Indo-Pacific region
• Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis

Qualifications

• Master's degree in national security, international relations, history, or another related technical field
• DoD operational and staff experience with direct experience in technology, innovation, concept development, and analytical work

Nice to Have

• Graduate of an advanced warfighting school (SAMS, SAW, JAWS, SAAS, MAWS) or war college
• Conversant in Joint Force Development and Design activities, or Joint and Service concepts and doctrine (including JWC, MDO, DMO, EABO, ACE)
