About This Role

The Instrument and Electrical Technician installs, maintains, and repairs plant instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and electrical equipment for a chemical manufacturing plant, prioritizing environmental protection and employee safety.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities
  • Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all plant instrumentation, control systems, analyzers and electrical equipment
  • Promptly and accurately diagnose minor problems and implement corrective action
  • Consult directly with equipment vendors for problem resolution
  • Set up and operate limited types of shop tools and specialized test, measuring equipment and hand tools
  • Conduct evaluation tests on valves, motors, and instruments
  • Troubleshoot 120 volt AC controls, 480 volt motors and switch gear
  • Research specifications for materials, testing and repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED
  • 5+ years process instrumentation/electrical maintenance experience OR 2+ years with Associate degree
  • Proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, electrical one-line, and P&I drawings
  • Proficient in maintaining process control loops, electronic controls, valves, and transmitters
  • NCCER certification (electrical and/or instrumentation preferred)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including a respirator
  • Ability to respond to visual and audible alarms

Qualifications

  • High School Education or GED required, Associate degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology preferred
  • 5 years process instrumentation/electrical maintenance experience in industry OR 2 years maintenance experience in industry with an associate degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology

Nice to Have

  • Additional chemical plant or manufacturing experience
  • Experience with high voltage systems (115KV, 13.8KV, 4160V), circuit breakers, motor starters, relaying, cable terminations and repairs
  • Understanding of HIPOT, TTR, Phasing and Meggar testing
  • Good working knowledge of SAP
