Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment and systems at a customer site in Laredo, TX, ensuring optimal performance of environmental control systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in various commercial establishments
- Mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors
- Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts following blueprints or engineering specifications
- Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape
- Cut and thread pipe using machine or hand-threading equipment
- Join tubing or pipes to refrigerating units through sleeves, couplings, or unions, and solder joints
- Install expansion and discharge valves in circuits
- Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and power sources
- Install air and water filters in completed installations
- Inject refrigerant into compressor and add Freon gas to test systems and build operating pressure
- Observe pressure and vacuum gauges, adjusting controls for proper operation
- Test joints and connections for gas leaks
- Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them with cement or wire bands
- Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring
- Install, repair, and service air conditioners up to twenty tons cooling capacity in warehouses and small factory buildings
Requirements
- Refrigeration Operator Certification
- One or more of NATE HVAC Service Technician, HVAC Excellence Professional Level, or UA Star HVAC Mastery Certifications (Journeyman for union workers)
- EPA 608 Certification, A/C
- Minimum of 16 hours of continuing education per year (NATE, HVAC Excellence, or UA Star recognized providers)
- High knowledge in HVAC, chillers, and controls, pumps heat exchanger
- Good understanding of 300 to 800 ton chillers and their operations and annual PMs
- Knowledge of hydronic system closed loops heating and chilled loops
- Knowledge of ceramic pump seals
- Experience with electrical high and low voltage A/C D/C
- Experience with low pressure vessels boilers
- Experience with plumbing repairs
- Knowledge on building automation operations
- Knowledge of motor control system
- Knowledge of fire alarm and life safety standards, to include system testing
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance program
- Ability to pass a government background check
