About This Role

The Prep Cook plays a crucial role in the kitchen by preparing ingredients and supplies efficiently and to high standards, ensuring a smooth and timely preparation of dishes. This role requires attention to detail, speed, and the ability to follow recipes precisely, while maintaining a clean and sanitary environment following food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and seafood according to recipe specifications and kitchen standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including washing utensils and equipment
• Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations to prevent foodborne illnesses
• Support chefs and kitchen staff by providing prepared ingredients in a timely manner for efficient production
• Monitor inventory levels of prepared products and communicate shortages or needs to the management team
• Dispose of waste properly and recycle materials when possible to maintain an environmentally responsible kitchen
• Participate in daily kitchen preparation and closing to ensure proper organization and ingredient storage

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Nice to Have

• Food handling or safety certification (e.g., ServSafe)
• Prior experience in food preparation or as a kitchen assistant
• Experience in a professional kitchen or food service
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary terminology
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
