About This Role

Independently perform registered nurse functions in direct patient care within the Hematology Oncology Outpatient department, utilizing the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care. This role collaborates with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care and ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care, utilizing clinical judgment and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Ensure patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.
  • Oversee care delivered by the patient care team and coordinate the plan of care.
  • Provide education and facilitate learning for patients, families, and the patient care team, with sensitivity to diversity.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement appropriate care plans.
  • Advocate for the patient and BSN, representing their concerns and assisting in resolving ethical and clinical issues.
  • Accurately and thoroughly document all patient encounters in EPIC.
  • Protect and secure Patient Health Information (PHI) at all times.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention initiatives (e.g., hand hygiene, proper waste disposal).
  • Deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years Pediatric Hematology Oncology Experience
  • BSN (Bachelor's degree in Nursing)
  • Current Texas RN license
  • BLS certification

Qualifications

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in Nursing BSN
  • At least 2 years Pediatric Hematology Oncology Experience
