Health Care Provider for Summer Camp

About This Role

The Health Care Provider maintains a healthy camp population by overseeing health and safety programs, administering medical care, and managing health records for campers and staff. This role ensures compliance with standards from the American Camping Association, state health regulations, and Girl Scouts of the USA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise health and cleanliness standards and recommend corrective actions
• Monitor the health of campers and staff
• Ensure each staff member and camper has an individual health file
• Conduct health screening for arriving campers, staff, and for out-of-camp trips
• Establish and follow appropriate medical routines including record keeping, medication management, and medical waste disposal
• Organize first aid kits for staff and units
• Report all incidents/accidents to the Camp Director immediately
• Lead staff training on camp health, safety, and infection control
• Prepare a summary and evaluation of the camp season and records
• Identify opportunities to enhance health and safety standards

Requirements

• Minimum age 20
• Current Ohio license as a Physician, RN, LPN, EMT, or Paramedic
• Ability to originate, update, and monitor health care records and implement health care plans
• Physical stamina to reach remote camp locations
• Ability to read prescriptions and health exams from physicians
• Computer literacy and technical knowledge of Word, Publisher, Excel, and the internet
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to work well as part of a team and meet deadlines

Qualifications

• Experience with the health care of children and young adults is preferred.
