Header Operator III

About This Role

This role involves setting up and operating header equipment with limited supervision, maintaining production requirements, and ensuring quality standards. The incumbent will also contribute to continuous process and product improvement.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate header equipment, including Formax 34's, 44's, 54's
• Remove and install Punch & Die Packs, Transfer, and Dies as needed (Rough In Changeover)
• Adjust and operate equipment to maintain quality standards
• Perform first piece inspection and monitor quality of all parts
• Maintain clean and orderly work area
• Train team members on all work standards
• Assist other operators as needed
• Perform duties required to record data for SPC, ISO/IATF 16949 documentation
• Suggest process improvement ideas

Requirements

• Operating understanding of cold heading machines
• Ability to use all gauges and gauging techniques required
• Knowledge in IATF16949 and ISO 14001 requirements
• Ability to set-up and operate one or more sizes/types of manufacturing equipment
• Ability to consistently meet production and quality standards
• Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all required operator documentation
• Good communication and teamwork skills, including written communication
• Ability to identify routine problem causation and correct routine problems
• Leadership skill and ability to train others
• Use math skills for blueprint reading, gauging and SPC
• Demonstrate the understanding of the manufacturing process and machine requirements to perform basic and repetitive work assignments
• Previous problem solving and troubleshooting skills/experience
• Must comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and practices

Qualifications

• Minimum one to three years’ experience in a direct or related field

Nice to Have

• Formal mechanical or technical training
• Forklift operation/material-handling experience
