The Head Start Teacher is responsible for providing a rich and safe learning environment for preschool children, focusing on their social, intellectual, physical, and emotional development. They will assess children's progress, communicate with parents, and ensure compliance with program standards.
Responsibilities
- Establish a classroom learning environment that is clean, safe, attractive, and provides a rich array of learning opportunities based on developmental levels.
- Develop ongoing weekly individualization plans for each child based on needs and strengths.
- Conduct and manage required child assessments, anecdotal notes, documentation, IEPs, and developmental screenings.
- Supervise all meal and snack service/activities following CACFP guidelines.
- Develop and implement written weekly lesson plans and provide an organized program according to the identified curriculum.
- Complete at least two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences per year, per child.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and Family Advocates regarding classroom activities, child's status, enrollment, and attendance.
- Provide leadership and training to other classroom staff.
Qualifications
- Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's Degree in education or child development
- A minimum of one year of related experience in education or child development is preferred.
