About This Role

The Group Account Director / Business Director will lead a portfolio of high-value, global accounts, managing senior client relationships and driving strategic growth, while ensuring Buttermilk’s high standards are met across all work. This role involves overseeing and mentoring senior account members to achieve growth targets and deliver exceptional results, balancing client satisfaction with profitability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key relationship manager for major accounts, conducting regular check-ins with senior stakeholders
  • Act as the escalation point for client issues, ensuring quick resolution and maintaining satisfaction
  • Build deep, long-term partnerships with senior clients, identifying opportunities for strategic collaboration and growth
  • Develop and implement growth plans across accounts, supporting SADs and SAMs to meet and exceed targets
  • Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, including community-first projects and lateral growth within client groups
  • Lead, mentor, and line manage SADs and SAMs, fostering their professional growth and performance
  • Oversee delivery of client proposals, reports, awards submissions, and pitches, ensuring quality and timeliness
  • Manage SOW approvals and ensure accurate, prompt invoicing
  • Maintain profitability by managing budgets, tracking hours, and optimising resources
  • Protect margins by effectively managing scope changes and resource allocation
  • Lead and support high-profile pitches from concept to execution

Requirements

  • 10+ years of account management experience, ideally in a creative or marketing agency
  • Proven track record managing large, complex accounts for global brands
  • Strong pitch leadership, with the ability to win high-value new business
  • Extensive experience in account ownership, managing both operational and financial elements
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to develop high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated success in driving growth, achieving targets, and fostering long-term client partnerships

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of account management experience, ideally in a creative or marketing agency
