General Neurologist

About This Role

North Country Healthcare is seeking a full-time General Neurologist to join a highly productive team, providing office-based general neurology services to adolescents and adults. This role involves diagnosing and managing common neurological conditions, ordering diagnostic tests, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to meet clinical demands and expand neurology services across critical access hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Provide office-based general neurology services to new and established patients (adolescents age 16 and older as well as adults)
• Perform medication management, education, and counseling for patients and families
• Order diagnostic tests and refer to related specialties locally and to subspecialty neurologists at tertiary care centers
• Communicate effectively with Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) about patient care
• Partners with other members of neurology team (e.g., neurologist colleague, radiologist, EEG technologists, MA’s and RN’s, physical therapists)
• Infrequently provide consultation for inpatients and arrange timely office visits for discharged patients

Requirements

• Medical license to practice neurology
• Comfortable with rural nature of practice/hospital
• Team oriented, collaborative, and patient focused
• High level of customer service (patient satisfaction)

Qualifications

• Prior experience (at least 2-5 years) in broad spectrum of general neurology, or selected new graduates from residency or fellowship training. Prior experience in a small hospital or Critical Access Hospital (CAH) desired.

Nice to Have

• Clinical interests/expertise in headaches, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, extrapyramidal syndrome, stroke, epilepsy, dementia, and EEG’s
• Ability to interpret EEG studies
• Ability to perform Botox injections
