Gen AI Engineer (GCP / Vertex AI / Workday Integrations)

About This Role

This role involves building and scaling AI-powered conversational workflows on Google Cloud Platform, focusing on Vertex AI and agent-based development. The engineer will design and implement multi-agent systems to manage complex conversational sessions and integrate with enterprise platforms, particularly Workday.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy GenAI solutions on GCP, leveraging Vertex AI for model orchestration, evaluation, and production deployment
• Develop agentic workflows using Vertex AI Agent Development Kit (ADK)
• Design and implement multi-agent architectures capable of handling complex conversational sessions and task routing
• Translate business/user intent into structured and actionable natural language queries using ML/NLP techniques
• Integrate GenAI capabilities with Workday, expanding functionality through REST and SOAP APIs
• Develop robust backend services in Python, ensuring reliability, observability, and secure API interactions
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define agent behaviors, system prompts, tool usage, and success metrics

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with GCP, especially Vertex AI
• Experience using Vertex AI Agent Development Kit (ADK) in real implementations
• Proven ability to design and deliver multi-agent architectures and manage complex multi-turn conversational sessions
• Solid foundation in Machine Learning / NLP
• Strong backend development experience in Python
• Hands-on integration experience with Workday APIs (REST and SOAP)
• Strong understanding of API design, authentication patterns, and enterprise integration constraints

Nice to Have

• Experience with tool calling, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), memory, session management, and evaluation pipelines
• Familiarity with identity/auth flows (OAuth, service accounts, enterprise auth patterns)
• Experience working in HR/People systems, finance platforms, or enterprise SaaS
• Production experience with monitoring, logging, and LLM quality evaluation
