Garden Center Cashier

About This Role

This role is a customer-facing position responsible for greeting customers, handling transactions, and assisting with sales floor merchandising in a garden center environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and direct them to salespersons
• Answer telephones professionally and direct calls
• Make radio callouts to customer service staff
• Accurately handle cash, check, and credit card transactions
• Process transactions for commercial customers, including tax codes and charge accounts
• Assist with design and merchandising of the sales floor, including promotional displays and signage
• Restock shelves and maintain product cleanliness and order
• Count cash drawers at the beginning and end of each day
• Engage in conversation with customers to personalize interactions
• Summarize main product benefits to customers
• Assist with clerical duties like stocking, pricing, and housekeeping
• Operate a computer-based point of sale system and other office equipment

Qualifications

• Experience as a cashier is mentioned as a plus, but not a strict requirement.
