Furniture Repair Technician

About This Role

The Furniture Repair Technician 1 repairs, restores, and inspects damaged or defective merchandise. This role involves working inside the shop or on the dock to ensure outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.

Responsibilities

• Identify repair needs and follow standard operating procedures for repair
• Demonstrate proficiency in repairing upholstery/leather products, including stitching, panel replacement, mechanism, frame repair, and button replacement
• Demonstrate proficiency in repairing wood/case goods, including burn ins, color matching, panel replacements, and adjustment of drawers, doors, and glides
• Achieve 80% restock to first quality
• Identify proper quality disposition of furniture after inspection
• Understand and perform product assembly
• Utilize proper lifting techniques
• Operate radio frequency equipment
• Conduct operations in compliance with OSHA standards
• Maintain a clean work area, free from debris on the warehouse floor

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 1-2 years experience with upholstery, fabrics, wood furniture, leather, veneer finishes
• Ability to use necessary tools and equipment
• Strong knowledge of leather repairs
• Strong knowledge of wood repairs including scratches, dents and split wood

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years experience working with upholstery, an array of fabrics, wood furniture, leather and veneer finishes.
