Furniture Builder

About This Role

Hand-build quality upholstered furniture in a team-based, fast-paced environment. This physically demanding role involves using power tools and handling materials to meet daily production goals.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team atmosphere
• Perform any position within the cell as needed
• Properly use Kan Ban containers
• Knock down all sharp corners of frame and use staple gun to staple materials (Upholster)
• Use hammer to insert tack strip, panels, etc.
• Use staple puller to retract improper staples
• Use air tools to assemble components as necessary (drill, hog ring gun, hot glue gun for Upholster; frame gun, crimping gun, chisel tool for Frame)
• Assemble furniture components by upholstery notes within specifications
• Validate unit cover to ticket in each batch and coordinate work flow in cell (Cushion Process)
• Insert stuffing materials into cover components and use machine to seal and quilt
• Assemble components into completed unit and oil mechanism as required (Final Assembly)
• Use banding and up ender equipment for packaging
• Use tape gun to properly secure packaging materials and apply ticket to finished package
• Move unit to alternate location as needed

Requirements

• Basic reading and writing skills
• Completion of in-house training curriculum
• Basic computer skills
• Strong coordination for routine, repetitive tasks
• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day with frequent bending, twisting, and reaching
• Capacity to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs
• Skilled use of hands for gripping, pulling, and tugging
• Comfort with power tools, framing, and staple guns

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the duties
