Food Service Worker

About This Role

Supervise inmate labor and team members in a correctional facility's food service operation. This role involves preparing and serving food, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and maintaining a sanitary work environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts.
• Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menu, recipes, and work instructions.
• Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures.
• Utilize kitchen utensils/equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes.
• Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling, and storage.
• Train other food service workers.
• Maintain a clean work area/environment, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking, and serving equipment.
• Follow facility uniform policy, keep up with garbage collection, and keep kitchen floors clean.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for other employees/inmates.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Nice to Have

• Prior institutional food service experience
• Prior restaurant experience
