About This Role

Provide support to the licensing and applications functions of the Department of Financial Institutions, research regulatory matters, and handle telephone/email inquiries from Indiana consumers regarding financial services. This position contributes to ensuring residents have access to proper financial services and protecting consumer interests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the licensing and applications functions of the Department of Financial Institutions (DFI)
  • Research regulatory matters related to financial services
  • Receive and respond to telephone and email inquiries from Indiana consumers on financial services
  • Track, monitor, and recommend regulatory action on initial and renewal applications via NMLS and direct submissions
  • Engage with the Internal Revenue Service, Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, and other regulators as needed
  • Perform various examinations on institutions of large size and complexity
  • Serve as Examiner-In-Charge (EIC) for Safety and Soundness examinations
  • Prepare examination reports of findings that are accurate and comply with Department policies
  • Assist in bringing organizations into full compliance with laws and regulations
  • Review work produced by other staff and provide effective feedback

Requirements

  • Ability to complete Agency specific training programs
  • Broad knowledge of computer applications, including examination and DFI software
  • Ability to conduct and prepare examination reports
  • Ability to identify, apply, and interpret laws, regulations, and policies applicable to assigned areas
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and records
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise both tact and persuasion in dealing with institution managers and staff
  • Ability to travel across or within a specified region of the State
