About This Role

This internship provides an opportunity to work on meaningful assignments within the finance function of a global pharmaceutical company, gaining world-class experience and contributing to various business areas from commercial to R&D and corporate finance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a paid, 10-12-week summer program
  • Work on meaningful assignments impacting the business and patients worldwide
  • Combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving
  • Support commercial operations, including forecasting for key brands
  • Provide leadership and guidance to manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, and other support functions in Operations Finance
  • Support AbbVie's Research & Development (R&D) activities focusing on pipeline compounds in development
  • Contribute to Accounting COE, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, Internal Audit, Investor Relations, Tax and Global Trade Compliance (GTC), or Treasury functions

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting
  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 – June 2028
  • Enrolled in school the semester following the internship with AbbVie
  • Progress towards successfully completing at least three accounting courses (each with 3 credit hours) by graduation, with one focusing on cost or managerial accounting
  • Demonstrated utilization of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in academic and/or professional settings
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a school or student organization setting
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance and/or accounting

Nice to Have

  • Graduation date between December 2026 – June 2027
  • Dual major or minor in a related field
  • Exposure in utilizing systems and tools to visualize and present data in a meaningful way
  • Exposure to data analysis and ability to perform robust analytics and predictive modeling
  • Completion of an accredited Excel or data visualization tool certificate program or course
  • Ability to use analytical skills to innovatively solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage projects within a work and/or academic environment
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively in teams, being adaptable, innovative, proactive, and maintaining high ethical standards
  • Previous internship or related experience
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher
